Medium voltage.

Medium voltage

Medium voltage networks are used to connect high and very high voltage networks and low voltage networks. The transfer of high-voltage energies directly to the transmission networks, ie to direct subscribers, is not suitable for both isolation and safety. For this reason, it is reduced to the appropriate values and connected to the medium voltage networks by the operations on high voltage networks. Medium voltage networks are generally used in electrical energy transport to small cities and industrial areas. Medium voltage lines are connected to the distribution transformers located at the city entrances and are given to the subscribers.

10, 15 and 33 kV voltages are used in medium voltage networks in our country. Medium voltages are determined by the line voltage according to the length of the power transmission lines used. Here we can do the generalization. For lines up to 10 km, 3 to 10 kV, on 20 to 30 km lines 10 to 20 kV and on 30 to 70 km lines 20 to 35 kV voltages are used. On longer lines, high voltages are used.
